The Technical Museum in Brno is a state-funded institution with the separate legal personality and is managed directly by the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic.

The museum creates collections and has a scientific, cultural, educational and methodological function predominantly in Moravia and Silesia, but in the case of some fields, its scope of competence is statewide.
