Metal Casting
The metal casting display introduces a craft that is more than 6,000 years old. It shows a neglected beauty of ostensibly cold casting which can be seen absolutely everywhere. Many of us are usually blind to these obvious everyday „details”, e. g. door handles, a mirror frame, stoves, cast-iron dishes, sculptures, benches in a park, or even a candlestick chasing the darkness away.
That is the reason to be surprised at the origins of these objects that are created with sweat and heat to serve us. This immemorial production technology does not only create tools which make our life easier, it also creates guns which can kill. The description of basic metal casting methods is supplemented with an experimental metal casting workroom, along with a moulding and casting presentation.
