Wind in the Sails
Exhibition marking the 20th anniversary of the TMB Friends’ Circle – Windmills Section
The Technical Museum in Brno has opened a new small exhibition entitled “Wind in the Sails.” The museum prepared it in cooperation with the Windmills Section, which has been part of the Friends of the Technical Museum in Brno for 20 years. The exhibition, consisting of information panels, photographs, videos, collection items from the field of milling, and models of windmills, will be open to visitors from February 18 to June 14, 2026.
This small exhibition aims to present the work of a group of experts and windmill enthusiasts who have been working together for twenty years, since 2005, in the Windmills Section of the Friends’ Circle of the Technical Museum in Brno. The section has set itself three main areas of activity: informing and educating its members in the field of milling and monument preservation, mutual assistance in the rescue and restoration of windmills, and the promotion of windmills as unique technical monuments.
The Windmills section brings together everyone interested in this topic, especially windmill owners in the Czech Republic and abroad, museum and heritage institute staff, media representatives, teachers, and professional and amateur researchers.
